Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy services under the supervision of an OT, focusing on restoring function and independence
• Assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans that target meaningful daily activities
• Implement therapeutic interventions to improve ADLs, mobility, cognition, and upper-extremity function
• Document progress accurately and communicate changes in patient status with the interdisciplinary team
• Coach patients and families on adaptive techniques, home modifications, and use of assistive devices
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and case managers to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Active or eligible for California OTA licensure or registration prior to start
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain before assignment
• Comfortable working with a diverse adult patient population in post-acute/rehab settings
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Professional, compassionate communicator who enjoys working on interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (Associate degree or diploma)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL training, therapeutic exercises, splinting basics, and adaptive equipment recommendations
• Knowledge of rehabilitation principles, safe patient handling, and fall prevention
• Clear clinical reasoning and ability to modify interventions based on patient response
• Good time management, organization, and documentation practices
• Ability to educate patients and caregivers with empathy and clarity
