Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care and timely clinical assessments for detainee patients
• Administer medications, treatments, and document care in the medical record accurately
• Perform triage and manage acute issues, coordinating with on-site security as needed
• Conduct health screenings, wound care, and chronic disease management
• Collaborate with medical and security teams to maintain a safe, secure care environment
• Maintain strict adherence to facility protocols, privacy rules, and documentation standards
• Educate patients on treatment plans and discharge instructions when appropriate
• Participate in shift handoffs and ensure continuity of care across the team

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — Pennsylvania license or valid compact/reciprocal licensure as applicable
• Minimum clinical experience in acute care or correctional/detention nursing preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS or other certifications preferred when available
• Comfortable and experienced working night shifts and in secure/custodial healthcare settings
• Ability to pass background checks and adhere to facility security clearance procedures
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and documentation skills
• Willingness to follow facility rules (for example: no cell phones inside secure perimeter)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment, triage, and emergency response
• Medication administration and nursing documentation best practices
• Infection control, wound care, and chronic disease management
• De-escalation techniques and working collaboratively with security staff
• Electronic health record (EHR) navigation and accurate charting
• Time management and prioritization in a high-acuity, secure environment
• Professionalism, patient advocacy, and strong interpersonal skills
