Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver skilled physical therapy treatments and assist with care plans to help residents regain function
• Perform therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and assistive device education with compassion and safety
• Document patient evaluations, progress, and discharge planning accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and families to create coordinated, person-centered care
• Monitor patient response to interventions and modify treatment plans as appropriate
• Promote a positive, motivating environment that supports patient independence and dignity

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Physical Therapist Assistant license (ability to obtain NC license prior to start if needed)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
• Experience in skilled nursing, inpatient rehab, or geriatric care preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team
• Proof of education from an accredited PTA program and any required state paperwork completed before start

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of rehabilitation principles, therapeutic exercise, and mobility training
• Skilled in safe patient handling, transfers, and use of assistive devices
• Ability to perform accurate clinical documentation and follow care plans
• Familiarity with infection control practices and patient safety protocols
• Strong interpersonal skills for coaching patients and working with families
