Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor post-operative recovery with strong clinical judgment
• Administer medications and manage IV drips safely, including heparin and TPN when required
• Provide focused post-operative care for total joint, spinal, abdominal and urology patients
• Manage wound care, Hemovac and JP drains, and colostomy care with compassion and skill
• Encourage early ambulation and deliver clear patient education to support faster recoveries
• Collaborate with telemetry techs, respiratory therapists and charge nurses to coordinate interdisciplinary care
• Provide concise bedside shift reports and maintain timely, accurate documentation
• Float between medical and telemetry areas as needed to ensure continuity and quality of care

Qualifications

• Current RN license (North Dakota required or appropriate compact state license preferred)
• BLS certification required
• Surgical and post-operative experience preferred; experience with early ambulation a plus
• Comfort managing Hemovac/JP drains, colostomies, PCA pumps and occasional heparin/TPN drips
• Ability to work 12-hour day or night shifts and float to telemetry/medical units
• Must meet CommonSpirit radius/employment rules and RTO requirements for this contract

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment in MedSurg and post-op settings
• Medication administration and IV/drip familiarity
• Wound, drain and ostomy care expertise
• Telemetry awareness and ability to collaborate with monitor techs
• Understanding of post-operative recovery protocols and early ambulation techniques
• Clear bedside communication, effective handoff/reporting skills, and accurate documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
