Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert wound, ostomy and continence assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Perform and supervise advanced wound treatments and dressing selection including VAC therapy, sharp debridement, enzymatic and mechanical techniques
• Manage ostomy care and education including appliance selection, irrigation, and stoma assessment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes across pediatrics through geriatrics
• Document comprehensive assessments and treatment plans in Epic accurately and promptly
• Educate patients and families on wound/ostomy management, prevention strategies and follow-up care
• Serve as the clinical resource for skin integrity issues and contribute to quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in Washington state
• WOCN certification required (hard stop)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting
• Experience charting in Epic required
• BLS certification required; WOCN-related certifications preferred
• Demonstrated competency with complex wound and ostomy care and related modalities

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required
• WOCN certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Wound assessment and staging (Pressure, Venous, Neuropathic, Peripheral arterial)
• Ostomy assessment and management including colostomy and ileostomy care
• Vacuum Assisted Closure (Wound Vac) and wound culture techniques
• Debridement methods: sharp, mechanical, autolytic, enzymatic, and use of silver products
• Hyperbaric oxygen therapy familiarity and when to escalate care
• Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) knowledge for peripheral arterial disease assessment
• Braden scale and ulcer risk assessment tools
• Strong patient/family teaching, infection control and isolation precaution practices
