Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate compassionate nursing care for residents across all ages, tailoring to their unique needs
- Lead patient and family teaching while collaborating with the healthcare team to uphold top nursing standards
- Perform thorough nursing assessments through interviews, observation, and the nursing process
- Administer medications accurately and manage care plans with physicians and team members
- Respond calmly to emergencies, making sound judgments and delegating to support staff effectively
- Document everything meticulously in EHR and promote SEARHC Seven Standards of Excellence
- Educate residents, families, and staff to empower better health outcomes and coping skills
Qualifications
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska (or applied for before start)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
- Clinical Competency Assessment within 3 months of hire and every three years
- High Risk Competency within 3 months of hire and every year
- Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Associate's degree in nursing or Diploma in nursing)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong grasp of nursing principles, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Competency in recognizing emergencies and pharmaceuticals including effects and side effects
- Skilled in operating medical equipment like AED and proficient in all nursing procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication for EHR documentation and team collaboration
- Ability to lead, delegate, and work cooperatively in a team environment
