Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, direct patient care for medical patients in a correctional setting
• Perform thorough nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns promptly
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and complete required reporting
• Follow facility security and safety protocols while delivering care
• Educate patients on their conditions and self-care in a respectful, clear manner

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (California) — Class: RN
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or obtain upon hire)
• Comfort with providing medical nursing care (Medical area/OT-8HR)
• Reliable attendance and ability to commit to the scheduled shift pattern (no time off requested during assignment)
• Previous medical/surgical or correctional nursing experience preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility clearance requirements
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Active California RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and critical thinking for medical patients
• Medication administration and documentation accuracy
• Familiarity with electronic health records and charting best practices
• Infection control principles and safe clinical procedures
• Patient education and effective communication
• Ability to work within correctional facility protocols and security procedures
• Time management, organization, and attention to detail
