Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients, monitoring recovery and intervening when needed
• Assess and document patient status, pain levels, and vitals with accurate, timely charting
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the pediatric care team to ensure smooth handoffs
• Educate families on post-operative care and discharge instructions in a clear and reassuring way
• Maintain safe medication administration practices and adhere to infection control standards
• Participate in orientation and training to support unit standards and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of Missouri (or compact license where applicable)
• Experience in Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU), pediatric nursing experience strongly preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and ACLS preferred
• Comfortable with pediatric assessment, airway management basics, and post-op care protocols
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to pass facility credentialing and orientation requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia monitoring and recovery practices
• Pediatric patient assessment and family-centered communication
• Familiarity with PACU equipment and safe medication administration
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical record usage
• Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced perioperative environment
