Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document care clearly and timely in the electronic health record
• Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Contribute to unit quality improvement initiatives and a positive work environment

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
• Clinical experience or training in medical-surgical nursing (Med/Surg)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or obtainable
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and patient advocacy skills
• Reliable immunizations and ability to pass any required background checks
• Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and participate in team-based care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of med/surg patient care principles and common diagnoses
• Medication administration, IV therapy, and wound care competency
• Proficient communication and teamwork skills with patients, families, and staff
• Comfortable using electronic health record systems and clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond to emergent situations calmly
• Basic familiarity with hospital safety protocols and infection prevention
