Shift Type: 12-hour shifts (specific start/end times and days to be confirmed by facility), Med/Surg unit

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med/Surg patients
Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate changes to the care team
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Document care, interventions and patient responses in the medical record
Collaborate with physicians, therapists and support staff to coordinate care
Educate patients and families about condition, treatment and discharge plans
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana (or appropriate compact privileges)
Clinical experience or interest in Medical-Surgical nursing
Ability to provide safe patient care with strong assessment and prioritization skills
Effective communication and teamwork skills for a fast-paced unit
Willingness to participate in facility orientation and unit training

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid understanding of Med/Surg nursing principles and patient assessment
Medication administration and IV therapy fundamentals
Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize tasks
Clear documentation practices and familiarity with electronic charting
Teamwork, time management and patient-family education skills
