Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to Med/Surg patients following unit standards
• Assess patient condition and collaborate with the care team to implement individualized plans
• Administer medications, treatments and document accurately in the medical record
• Monitor and report changes in patient status promptly to physicians and charge nurses
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Support team-based care by precepting new staff and communicating effectively across shifts

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN license (if applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and other certifications preferred
• Previous Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, communicate and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Current CPR certification and compliance with facility immunization and credentialing policies

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med/Surg clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Ability to manage multiple patients and shifting priorities with attention to detail
• Effective communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
