Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care on a Medical-Surgical unit
Perform thorough assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate patient progress
Administer medications, treatments, and document care accurately and timely
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate optimal patient outcomes
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
Maintain high standards of infection control, safety, and regulatory compliance
Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives and share best practices

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN license (preferred)
Minimum clinical experience in Medical-Surgical nursing (specific years negotiable)
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred or available
Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and managing a full patient assignment
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork mindset

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient in Med/Surg nursing assessments, medication administration, and IV therapy
Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
Skilled at patient/family education and discharge planning
Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
