Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition on Med/Surg units and respond promptly to changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and follow individualized care plans
• Document patient care thoroughly and efficiently in the electronic health record
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and safe discharge
• Coordinate effective handoffs and transitions of care to maintain continuity
• Respond to emergent situations and escalate concerns to providers as needed
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives that improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
• BLS certification required; ACLS encouraged or as required by unit
• Previous Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Ability to pass facility-required background checks and onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing principles and patient assessment
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation best practices
• Patient education, discharge planning, and care coordination skills
• Infection control, safety practices, and evidence-based nursing care
• Strong teamwork, time management, and prioritization abilities
