Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to adults on the medical-surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments, develop nursing plans, and document care clearly
• Administer medications and treatments safely while following facility protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and discharge planning
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up instructions to support recovery

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility for licensure
• BLS certification required; ACLS or other advanced certifications encouraged or preferred
• Med-Surg experience preferred (around 1+ year), though new grads with strong clinical rotations are welcome to apply
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to unit staffing needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Patient assessment, care planning, and prioritization skills
• Safe medication administration and IV/infusion familiarity
• Wound care and basic procedure support
• Accurate electronic health record documentation
• Critical thinking and the ability to respond to changing patient needs
