Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality med/surg patient care on a 46-bed medical unit, ensuring safety and comfort
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document care in the EMR (Meditech)
• Monitor and assess patients, escalating changes in condition to the care team
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to implement patient-centered care plans
• Support smooth handoffs during shift changes and maintain clear, timely documentation
• Help maintain appropriate patient ratios (typically 1:5-6 days, 1:6 nights) and contribute to unit efficiency
• Float to surgical or ER areas as needed to support patient flow and unit needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for practice in Texas (state or compact as applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of med/surg nursing experience in an acute care setting (required)
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and participating in rotating weekends
• Meditech EMR experience preferred and helpful for faster onboarding
• Team-player attitude; willing to jump in, ask questions, and support colleagues

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med/surg and acute care nursing knowledge
• Proficiency with EMR documentation — Meditech experience noted
• Ability to manage typical med/surg procedures and meds safely
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced hospital settings
• Skill in prioritizing patient needs and managing assigned ratio loads
• Adaptability to float between medical unit, surgical unit, and ER hold capabilities
