Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality general anesthesia for mostly adult surgical patients including trauma cases
• Deliver regional anesthesia and acute pain management, including ultrasound-guided nerve blocks
• Perform neuraxial techniques such as spinal and epidural anesthesia when indicated
• Place and manage invasive lines including central venous and arterial lines
• Manage ventilation and acute hemodynamic/volume issues in the perioperative setting
• Supervise CRNAs and AAs as needed, typically supervising up to three at a time (approximately 40% of the time)
• Support complex vascular, neurosurgical, and orthopedic cases in a busy OR environment
• Collaborate with the anesthesia team and ancillary services to ensure smooth, efficient patient flow

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with completion of an ACGME accredited Anesthesiology residency
• Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology
• Active Colorado medical license, or ability to obtain state license in a timely manner
• Current ACLS certification and other required hospital credentials
• Proven experience with regional anesthesia techniques and ultrasound-guided blocks
• Comfortable managing adult general and trauma anesthesia and supervising CRNAs
• Familiarity with EPIC or similar electronic health record systems
• Willingness to complete a credentialing process (credentialing timeframe listed as about 3 months)

Education

• MD or DO, completion of Anesthesiology residency

Knowledge & Skills

• General anesthesia for adult and trauma patients
• Regional anesthesia including peripheral nerve blocks and neuraxial techniques
• Ultrasound-guided nerve block proficiency
• Ventilation management and advanced airway equipment familiarity
• Hemodynamic assessment and acute volume/ blood pressure management
• Central and arterial line placement and management
• Experience with complex vascular, neurosurgical, obstetrical, and orthopedic anesthetic cases
• Supervisory skills for working with CRNAs and anesthesia care teams
• Working knowledge of EPIC for clinical data review and coordination
