Roles & Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients by coordinating their care during preoperative and postoperative phases
• Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile operating room environment
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and perioperative team members for seamless procedures
• Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes during perioperative care
• Document patient care, instruments, and supplies accurately and thoroughly
• Educate patients and families about perioperative expectations and post-op care
• Participate in on-call coverage and respond professionally to urgent surgical needs

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (must be valid for practice in Vermont or eligible)
• Experience functioning as an OR Circulator or in perioperative nursing roles
• Comfort and experience with preoperative and postoperative patient care and advocacy
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles including preoperative assessment and postoperative monitoring
• Operating room workflows and sterile technique
• Strong patient advocacy and communication skills
• Ability to coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams
• Good documentation practices and attention to detail
• Adaptability in a small, critical access hospital setting
