Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
• Provide compassionate bedside care and maintain residents' dignity during all interactions
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and any changes in condition
• Support safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Communicate observations and changes promptly to nursing staff and document care accurately
• Create a calm, reassuring environment during night hours to promote resident comfort and rest
• Assist with meal service and ensure dietary needs and preferences are respected
• Participate in infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe care area

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in good standing
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is a plus
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings/vaccinations
• Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful bedside manner
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work overnight shifts

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic nursing care procedures for older adults
• Familiarity with infection prevention and safe handling practices
• Skillful in resident transfers, positioning, and mobility assistance
• Comfortable with charting and documentation of care activities
• Ability to recognize and report changes in resident condition
• Team-oriented attitude and ability to collaborate with nursing staff
