Roles & Responsibilities

Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of the OTR to improve residents' functional independence
Deliver ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, and adaptive equipment recommendations tailored to each resident
Collaborate with nursing, therapy teammates, and families to create cohesive care plans
Document resident progress clearly and timely in the facility record system
Educate residents and caregivers on strategies to maximize safety and independence
Participate in team meetings, discharge planning, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential or eligibility to obtain COTA certification
Licensed or able to obtain license to practice in Tennessee
Open to all experience levels; new grads are welcome
Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to pass background checks and required facility onboarding screenings
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of geriatric rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility workflows
Skilled in ADL assessment, adaptive equipment recommendations, and therapeutic activity planning
Proficient documentation skills and attention to clinical detail
Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time effectively
Comfortable working as part of an interdisciplinary care team
