Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions under the direction of the OTR
• Assist with patient assessments and contribute observations to individualized care plans
• Implement therapeutic activities to improve patients' independence in daily living
• Document patient progress clearly and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, home programs, and equipment use
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and ensure proper use of adaptive equipment

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential (required)
• Current state licensure/registration as applicable (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Comfort working in an inpatient/rehabilitation setting and handling a varied caseload

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Completion of a recognized COTA certification program

Knowledge & Skills

• Assessment and implementation of ADL/IADL training
• Familiarity with adaptive equipment and functional mobility strategies
• Clinical documentation and progress note best practices
• Ability to follow treatment plans and modify interventions based on patient response
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced setting
