Shift Type: Rotating shifts including weekends; Day shift 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM (primary posted shift); Night shifts also utilized as part of rotation. Weekend requirement: minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period. Flexible to work holidays. No on-call.

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care and telemetry monitoring for post-op cardiac and vascular patients
• Manage cardiac drips and titratable medications (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, etc.) safely and confidently
• Perform hands-on care such as chest tube and epidural management and tube feedings
• Use Cerner to document assessments, interventions and communicate care plans clearly
• Collaborate closely with surgical teams, intensivists and multidisciplinary staff to optimize patient recovery
• Educate patients and families about post-operative care and discharge planning, helping them feel informed and supported
• Maintain safe patient ratios and prioritize critical patients in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Active RN (Registered Nurse) credential appropriate for practice (travel nurse requirements may apply)
• Minimum 2+ years clinical nursing experience (experience in stepdown/PCU or telemetry strongly preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Must have stepdown and telemetry experience (candidates without these skills will not be considered)
• Preferred: recent CV surgery or vascular surgery experience (within a year) and CVICU background
• Comfort with cardiac drips, chest tube and epidural management, and advanced post-op care

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation for cardiac patients
• Cardiac/vascular post-op care including CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, AAA repairs and thoracic procedures
• Familiarity with Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps
• Experience with IV Glucommander and management of cardiac drips/gtts
• Electronic medical record proficiency (Cerner)
• Strong teamwork, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
