Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout surgical procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR team members to coordinate efficient, safe operations
• Document patient care and intraoperative events accurately using Meditech
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, surgical instruments, and equipment for a wide variety of procedures
• Adhere to trauma center protocols and assist in emergent surgical situations when needed
• Communicate clearly with patients and families, explaining perioperative processes and addressing concerns
• Support unit staffing and scheduling needs while maintaining professional standards and teamwork

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state (required)
• Minimum: 2 years of nursing experience indicated (preference noted) — however new grads are welcome and encouraged to apply
• Operating Room / perioperative or surgical/procedural experience preferred
• Ability to work night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) and follow set schedules
• Comfortable documenting in Meditech and following unit policies/guidelines
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-centered care mindset
• Certifications required: none specified

Education

• Nursing degree (ADN, diploma, or BSN) and active RN license — program type flexible (new grads welcome)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing practices and sterile technique
• Familiarity with a wide range of surgical specialties (general, ortho, neuro, robotics, vascular, etc.)
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation
• Ability to function in a busy trauma center environment
• Good clinical judgment, quick decision-making, and clear communication under pressure
• Patient advocacy and compassionate bedside manner
