Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert outpatient and inpatient care for medical oncology and hematology patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Manage and lead infusion center activities including oversight of a 24-bay outpatient oncology infusion department
• Handle on-call oncology coverage and support inpatient oncology rounds when needed
• Collaborate with radiation oncology, pharmacy, laboratory and supportive services to deliver coordinated patient care
• Participate in UC-NCORP clinical trials and support patient recruitment into research protocols
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR
• Contribute to rebuilding and growing the oncology practice, including recruitment and outreach efforts
• Engage with patients and families to develop personalized treatment plans and provide education and supportive care

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology
• Board Eligible (BE) or Board Certified (BC) in Hematology/Oncology; BC highly preferred
• Valid medical license for South Carolina (or ability to obtain one)
• Experience with outpatient oncology clinic care and infusion therapy
• Comfort managing inpatient oncology patients and participating in on-call rotations
• Willingness to reside within the immediate local area; relocation may be required
• Open to H1B and J1 visa candidates; not accepting locum tenens or 1099 candidates
• No lapsed Board Certification requiring reinstatement

Education

• MD or DO
• Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical oncology and hematology treatment principles
• Proven experience with infusion center workflows and infusion therapy management
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record
• Familiarity with clinical trials and UC-NCORP processes
• Ability to coordinate care with radiation oncology, pharmacy and on-site laboratory services
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient-centered care skills
• Capability to rebuild and grow a practice, including recruitment and community engagement
