Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate occupational therapy services to skilled nursing residents, focusing on meaningful daily activities
• Assess functional abilities and create individualized treatment plans that help patients regain independence
• Implement restorative programs and therapeutic interventions to improve ADLs, mobility, and safety
• Document care accurately and timely in the facility electronic records to support continuity and outcomes
• Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs, families, and care teams to coordinate holistic patient-centered care
• Educate patients and caregivers on home strategies, adaptive equipment, and techniques to support ongoing progress

Qualifications

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
• Valid license or eligibility to practice in Massachusetts
• Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Strong documentation skills and comfort with facility-level electronic health records
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care approach

Education

• Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field
• COTA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL training, transfers, and mobility assessment
• Familiarity with restorative nursing programs and adaptive equipment recommendations
• Ability to develop measurable goals and track functional outcomes
• Solid clinical reasoning and patient/family education skills
• Comfortable collaborating in interdisciplinary teams and contributing to care plans
• Proficient with documentation practices and regulatory compliance in skilled nursing
