Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Support safe transfers and mobility assistance while promoting independence
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to nursing staff
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
• Create a warm, respectful atmosphere that honors each resident’s dignity
• Communicate effectively with the care team and family members to coordinate care
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control standards

Qualifications

• GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent required
• Current state-required certification or registration to work as a GNA in Maryland
• Comfortable assisting older adults with personal care and mobility needs
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA/CNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skill in safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Ability to accurately take and document vital signs
• Familiarity with infection prevention, hand hygiene, and safe PPE use
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
• Basic charting and documentation skills
