Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents—helping with bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Assist residents with activities of daily living to preserve dignity and independence
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Perform safe transfer and lifting techniques to protect residents and colleagues
• Document care accurately and thoroughly to maintain continuity and quality
• Keep resident areas clean and safe while following infection control practices
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Active GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or state-equivalent credential
• Previous experience in geriatric care or long-term care is preferred but motivated new grads are welcome
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass required background checks and drug screenings
• Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach to care

Education

• GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of elderly care needs and best practices for geriatric populations
• Basic vital signs, observation skills, and recognizing changes in condition
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Infection prevention and proper use of PPE
• Accurate documentation and basic electronic charting familiarity
• Teamwork, time management, and resident-centered communication
