Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents during the 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM shift
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes in resident condition to the nursing team
• Support safe transfers and maintain fall-prevention measures at all times
• Document care accurately and timely in the resident record
• Collaborate with nursing staff, families, and interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain a clean, respectful, and dignified environment for residents

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or GED (preferred)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or as required by facility
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening per facility policy
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine passion for caring for older adults

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and basic ADL assistance
• Comfortable with safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, observing and reporting changes
• Good documentation practices and attention to detail
• Team-player attitude and the ability to follow care plans and direction from nursing staff
• Compassionate interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
