Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to residents, supporting dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Support safe transfers and ambulation using proper body mechanics
• Observe and report changes in residents' physical or emotional condition to the nursing team
• Document resident care and observations accurately and promptly
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Engage residents in social and recreational activities to promote well-being
• Collaborate with team members to deliver consistent, resident-centered care

Qualifications

• Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification in the applicable state
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained as required
• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a care team
• Pass required background checks and health screenings per facility policy
• Previous experience with geriatric residents is a plus but caring attitude is essential

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of a GNA training program or equivalent is required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Infection control and proper hand hygiene practices
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience with older adults
• Ability to follow care plans and document accurately
