Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, assisting with bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Assist with safe patient transfers and mobility support, using proper body mechanics
• Monitor and document resident status, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
• Support mealtime assistance and feeding when needed
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
• Engage residents with respectful, person-centered communication and companionship
• Follow individualized care plans and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent per state requirements
• Basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or required by facility
• Demonstrated experience working with older adult populations preferred
• Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required immunizations
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Availability for per diem scheduling and flexibility to accept shifts as needed

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
• Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
• Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes to nursing staff
• Teamwork and interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
