Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) for geriatric residents
• Observe, monitor and accurately document resident condition and behavior, reporting changes to nursing staff
• Assist with safe transfers, mobility and positioning to maintain resident comfort and safety
• Support mealtime and feeding assistance while honoring resident preferences and dietary needs
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control practices
• Engage residents in social and recreational activities to promote wellbeing and dignity
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated, person-centered care

Qualifications

• Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or CNA certification/license as required by Maryland
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings/immunizations
• Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
• Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care is a plus but not required

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a GNA/CNA training program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of ADLs and geriatric care principles
• Basic vital signs measurement and accurate documentation skills
• Safe transfer and patient handling techniques
• Familiarity with infection control standards and resident privacy (HIPAA)
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively on a care team
