Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with daily living tasks for elderly residents, ensuring dignity and comfort.
• Support nursing staff by reporting changes in resident condition and assisting with care plans.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and safe ambulation techniques to reduce fall risk.
• Help with personal care tasks such as bathing, toileting, grooming and dressing with respect and privacy.
• Serve nutritious meals and assist with feeding when needed, observing meal-time tolerance and needs.
• Maintain clean, safe resident environments and follow infection-control and safety protocols.
• Document care accurately and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team and families.

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent credential.
• Valid state-required certification/registrations for Maryland (or ability to obtain) preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain promptly.
• Demonstrated experience working with older adults or in long-term care settings is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, compassion, patience, and a team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Completion of an accredited GNA or nursing assistant training program.

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic clinical care skills: vitals observation, ADL assistance, safe transfers.
• Familiarity with infection prevention, PPE use, and documentation best practices.
• Strong observational skills to notice and report changes in resident status.
• Compassionate interpersonal skills for working with residents and families.
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs in a busy setting.
