Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population in a busy ER setting
• Perform rapid patient assessment and triage using ESI to prioritize care and improve outcomes
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to coordinate timely interventions and disposition
• Assist with procedures such as splinting, chest tube support, central line assistance, and lumbar punctures
• Document patient care accurately in the Meditech system and contribute to clear handoffs
• Deliver excellent patient experience using AIDET and communication tools to keep patients and families informed
• Maintain situational awareness and excellent time management to support a 1:4 patient ratio environment

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license required — temporary licenses will not be accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• TNCC required; PALS or ENPC required
• At least 2.5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience (per hiring profile)
• Strong time management skills and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced ER
• Comfortable floating to other areas as needed per facility policy

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with ESI triage and emergency triage principles
• Experience with Meditech documentation and electronic charting (EDM)
• Skilled in splinting, STEMI processes, and stroke processes
• Familiarity assisting with chest tubes, central lines, and lumbar punctures
• Excellent patient communication using AIDET and communication boards
• Ability to work efficiently in a team-based ER environment and handle multiple priorities
