Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist therapists by implementing treatment plans that improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function
• Provide direct, compassionate patient care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist
• Document patient progress and outcomes accurately and promptly to support care continuity
• Teach patients and families practical home exercises to encourage independence and recovery
• Set up, maintain, and ensure the safe operation of therapy equipment
• Communicate clearly with the therapy team and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
• Follow HIPAA and state licensing regulations to keep patients and the facility compliant

Qualifications

• Valid California PTA license (required) — must be active and in good standing
• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program (Associate degree or certificate)
• Experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting preferred
• CPR certification preferred (or willing to obtain upon hire)
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused mindset

Education

• Associate degree or certificate from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise, modalities, and mobility assistance
• Strong documentation and charting practices and attention to detail
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements
• Comfortable operating and maintaining therapy equipment safely
• Teamwork and collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams
• Good time management and patient education skills
