Roles & Responsibilities

• Produce and process high-quality diagnostic images to support radiologist diagnoses
• Set appropriate exposure factors and properly position patients for optimal imaging
• Operate radiology and fluoroscopy equipment along with related software
• Prepare and administer contrast materials to patients as required by procedures
• Assist the radiologist with special procedures and examinations
• Follow ALARA principles to maintain radiation safety for patients and staff
• Cross-train in additional imaging modalities per department policy to increase versatility
• Deliver compassionate patient care, explain procedures, and ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• Certified and registered or registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent
• State radiography license where required (may or may not be mandatory depending on jurisdiction)
• Proficiency in radiography and fluoroscopy techniques, patient positioning, and image processing
• Experience with contrast administration and assisting with special procedures
• Commitment to radiation safety and ALARA guidelines
• Willingness to cross-train in additional modalities per department policy #1080

Education

• Certification and registration with ARRT or equivalent (registry-eligible acceptable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Radiographic imaging and fluoroscopy
• Radiation safety and ALARA principles
• Patient positioning and compassionate patient care
• Contrast preparation and administration
• Operation of radiologic equipment and imaging software
• Image processing and producing diagnostic-quality studies
