Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare and set up operating rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs
Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure the integrity of the sterile field
Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures
Help with cleaning, turnover, and restocking of ORs to keep schedules running smoothly
Document perioperative activities and assist with patient positioning and safety
Participate actively in orientation to support new team members and maintain unit standards

Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Comfortable working in a fast-paced OR environment and following sterile technique
Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail
Ability to pass background checks and any facility-specific onboarding requirements

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (or equivalent training)

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of surgical instruments, supplies, and sterile processing
Skill in anticipating surgeon needs and passing instruments efficiently
Familiarity with OR protocols, patient safety practices, and infection control
Ability to perform accurate counts and maintain documentation
Calm under pressure and able to prioritize tasks during cases
