Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and operating room environment for surgical procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs and efficiently pass instruments and supplies during cases
• Set up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to procedure requirements
• Perform instrument counts and verify surgical instrumentation before and after procedures
• Assist the surgical team with patient positioning, draping, and sterile technique
• Ensure proper handling, labeling, and transport of specimens
• Document perioperative activities accurately and communicate handoffs clearly
• Participate in orientation and team trainings to support continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or relevant certification/experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
• Prior OR experience preferred but new grads with strong fundamentals are welcome
• Comfort with sterile technique, instrument familiarity, and fast-paced environments
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative protocols
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments, equipment, and disposables
• Ability to anticipate procedural steps and support efficient case flow
• Basic documentation and specimen handling skills
• Team-oriented mindset and adaptability in a dynamic OR setting
• Attention to detail for counts, safety checks, and infection control
