Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and lay out sterile instruments and supplies with precision
• Assist surgeons by anticipating needs and passing instruments efficiently during procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes
• Perform instrument and sponge counts accurately before, during, and after cases
• Ensure surgical equipment is functioning properly and report any issues promptly
• Support patient transitions into and out of the OR with professionalism and compassion
• Participate in orientation, team huddles, and ongoing training to continuously improve care
• Document perioperative care and interventions clearly in the patient record

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or eligible — we welcome those working toward certification
• Previous OR or perioperative experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical training encouraged to apply
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or ability to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass facility background checks and required screenings
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and attention to sterile technique

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and infection control practices
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and procedural setups
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and maintain situational awareness in the OR
• Strong communication skills for working with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams
• Comfort documenting perioperative activities in electronic records or logs
• Good time management and ability to adapt to changing case schedules
