Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments, ensuring everything is sterile and ready
Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during surgical procedures
Maintain the sterile field and follow strict infection control protocols
Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently and safely
Document intraoperative events and instrument counts accurately
Participate in orientation and ongoing training to continuously improve patient care

Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or obtained upon hire
Experience in hospital operating room settings preferred
Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and ability to perform under pressure
Active state licensure or certification as required

Education

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

Sterile technique and precise instrument handling
Operating room setup, turnover procedures, and surgical counts
Familiarity with common surgical instruments, trays, and supplies
Patient safety practices and infection control
Clear, professional communication with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia
Basic EMR documentation and perioperative workflows
