Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat inpatient adults as a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist across acute care and inpatient rehab settings
• Conduct and interpret Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) in radiology to guide safe swallowing plans
• Deliver one-on-one therapy that improves patient function and quality of life
• Document clinical findings and plans in Meditech EMR accurately and timely
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing, PT/OT, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Participate in unit meetings, discharge planning, and family education to support transitions of care
• Mentor and support colleagues when appropriate and contribute to a positive team culture

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of full-time acute care hospital or LTAC experience (Level 1 Trauma experience preferred)
• Demonstrated competency completing Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS)
• Current state SLP licensure (or ability to obtain Texas licensure) — active clinical credentials expected
• Strong clinical reasoning with experience in inpatient rehabilitation and acute care workflows
• Comfortable and experienced with Meditech EMR or similar electronic documentation systems
• Ability to work day shift schedule and cover two weekend shifts per month as part of rotation

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in MBSS procedures and dysphagia management
• Clinical expertise in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation populations
• Proficient documentation and charting practices (Meditech experience a plus)
• Excellent interdisciplinary communication and patient/family education skills
• Flexible, accountable, and able to adapt in a fast-paced 600-bed hospital environment
• Good sense of humor and a team-first attitude to fit the unit culture
