Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status and provide skilled respiratory care tailored to each patient
• Administer respiratory treatments and therapies, including oxygen delivery and aerosolized medications
• Operate, troubleshoot and monitor ventilators and other respiratory equipment with precision
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases and adjust therapy as directed
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and interdisciplinary team members to create safe care plans
• Educate patients and families on treatments, airway management and home respiratory care
• Document assessments, treatments and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• CRT or RRT credentials preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS or PALS preferred if applicable to the patient population
• Clinical experience in acute care settings preferred, with comfort managing ventilators and respiratory equipment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Current immunizations and any facility-required health screenings

Education

• Associate degree or diploma in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program
• Graduation from an accredited respiratory care program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with ventilator management and respiratory support modalities
• Knowledge of arterial blood gas interpretation and oxygen therapy principles
• Skilled in airway management techniques and emergency respiratory interventions
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation and charting best practices
• Understanding of infection control, safety protocols and patient monitoring
• Ability to prioritize care, multitask and respond effectively to changing patient needs
