Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate respiratory care and therapy to pediatric patients, tailoring treatments to each child’s needs
• Perform respiratory assessments and monitor patient progress, adjusting care plans in collaboration with the clinical team
• Operate and manage ventilators and respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Deliver clear, family-centered education on respiratory care and home management when appropriate
• Document treatments, observations, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and communicate proactively with physicians, nurses, and allied staff
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain equipment cleanliness and safety
• Contribute to orientation and training activities as needed to support new team members

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license (State of Ohio license preferred)
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Pediatric-focused certifications encouraged (e.g., PALS) and BLS required
• Comfortable with pediatric airway and ventilator management
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent (Bachelor’s preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with ventilators, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, and airway management
• Pediatric respiratory assessment and developmentally-appropriate care approaches
• Familiarity with arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory monitoring
• Proficiency with clinical documentation and electronic medical records
• Equipment troubleshooting and routine maintenance knowledge
• Teamwork, bedside manner, and family-centered communication skills
