Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care and therapeutic interventions to patients
• Operate and manage ventilators and advanced airway equipment safely and effectively
• Assess respiratory status, monitor progress, and adjust treatments in collaboration with providers
• Perform arterial blood gas collection and interpretation to guide patient care
• Provide patient and family education on therapies, equipment, and discharge needs
• Document assessments, treatments, and responses accurately in the patient record
• Participate in orientation, continuing education, and unit-based quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) acceptable where applicable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS/PALS preferred when applicable
• Prior acute care or hospital experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to complete facility credentialing and background checks

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory care program
• RRT credential preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
• Airway management skills including suctioning and airway adjuncts
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and interpretation
• Familiarity with oxygen therapy, nebulized treatments, and aerosol delivery
• Proficient documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Patient assessment, clinical judgment, and teamwork
