Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilator settings and provide expert ventilator management for adult critical care patients
• Perform airway management and tracheostomy care including suctioning and trach maintenance
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and adjust therapy based on results
• Deliver and monitor aerosolized therapies, nebulizers, HFNC and oxygen therapy
• Assist with extubations, weaning from mechanical ventilation and troubleshoot high pressure alarms
• Administer respiratory medications and support medication delivery systems (MDI, Medihaler, etc.)
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered respiratory plans
• Document care accurately and adhere to facility policies, including infection control and immunization guidelines

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and College diploma and/or transcripts required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred
• Ohio state license required (per facility requirements)
• ACLS and BLS required; CRT preferred
• Minimum ~2 years of related respiratory therapy experience (adult critical care preferred)
• Comfort working nights and weekends and able to float between campuses when requested
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Education

• High School Diploma (required)
• College diploma and/or transcripts (required)
• RRT certification (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management (experience with GE ventilators; Hamilton ventilator preferred)
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and oxygen therapy
• Airway management and tracheostomy care
• BiPAP / CPAP and noninvasive ventilation troubleshooting
• Interpretation of ABGs and making data-driven adjustments
• Nebulizer therapies, aerosol setup (mask/trach), MDI administration
• Familiarity with inhaled therapies including Nitric Oxide (INo) and a range of respiratory medications
• Patient assessment in adult critical care and emergency department settings
