Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients with compassion and attention to detail
• Prepare patients for surgery and perform thorough pre-op assessments
• Monitor patients intra- and post-operatively, recognizing and responding to changes in condition
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to ensure smooth case flow
• Maintain sterile technique, manage surgical instrumentation, and support efficient turnovers
• Accurately document patient care, medications, and clinical findings in the medical record
• Participate in required competency exams, skills checklists, and specialty testing to maintain clinical readiness

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nursys verification listed)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• DCI/BVP certification as listed by the facility
• Completion of required screenings and exams: drug screen (10-panel), fit test, TB/PPD, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, influenza, COVID-19 vaccine
• Ability to complete Prime competency exams and specialty skills checklists
• Must have all required certifications and licenses prior to start

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong surgical nursing and perioperative care knowledge
• Medication administration and basic pharmacology understanding
• Rhythm interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
• Proficiency with sterile technique and OR instrumentation
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting
• Excellent communication and teamwork in fast-paced surgical environments
• Ability to follow facility protocols for infection control and patient safety
