Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit
• Monitor and assess patients closely, recognizing changes in condition and acting promptly
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
• Document patient care and clinical findings clearly and timely in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
• Support unit workflow and mentor colleagues when opportunities arise

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Louisiana or ability to obtain licensure
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; advanced certifications such as ACLS encouraged
• Comfort with caring for higher-acuity patients in a Step-Down/Progressive Care environment
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shift blocks and adapt to unit staffing needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or equivalent; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and hemodynamic monitoring familiarity
• IV therapy and medication administration expertise
• Proficient charting in electronic health record systems
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Team collaboration, clear communication, and patient advocacy
