Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night-focused: 3x12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), typically three nights per week; schedule varies and shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period. Note: accepting a 12D/N rotating contract may involve day, night, or mixed assignments depending on unit needs.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert palliative care and symptom management to improve patient comfort and quality of life
- Assess and manage pain, nausea, fatigue, and other distressing symptoms using evidence-based interventions
- Administer medications safely, including opioid and equianalgesic dosing, and manage PCA pumps when indicated
- Start and maintain IVs, perform phlebotomy, and care for peripheral IVs/central lines/ports
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, social services, PT/RT, chaplaincy) to support patient-centered goals
- Support end-of-life care, bereavement planning, and perideath family needs with compassion and professionalism
- Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed while the new unit opens and beyond
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (state licensure required)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BLS certification required
- Epic charting experience required
- ACLS preferred
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required
- Comfort and experience with PCA pump management, medication administration, IV/ phlebotomy skills
- Ability to float to other inpatient units and adapt to different patient populations
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- Palliative care and end-of-life nursing principles
- Symptom assessment and management (pain, nausea/vomiting, altered mental status)
- Pain assessment tools and equianalgesic/opioid dosing
- PCA pump management and breakthrough dosing strategies
- Pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain interventions
- IV management, central line/port care, and phlebotomy
- Advanced directives, withholding/withdrawing treatment, and ethical/legal considerations
- Cultural awareness, spiritual needs identification, and bereavement support
- Strong Epic documentation and electronic charting skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork for interdisciplinary collaboration
