Shift Type: 4-hour PACU (Peds) shifts; specific start/end times and days are not specified in the posting (orientation included)

Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assess pediatric patients recovering from anesthesia and monitor vital signs closely
Administer medications and interventions per orders and hospital protocols
Collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure safe, timely handoffs
Provide compassionate education and support to families during recovery
Document patient status, interventions, and recovery progress accurately in the record
Maintain a safe, clean PACU environment and escalate concerns when needed

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio (or compact RN license as applicable)
Experience in PACU and/or pediatric nursing preferred
BLS required; PALS preferred or obtainable upon hire
Strong assessment skills and comfort managing post-anesthesia recovery
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced perioperative setting

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of pediatric post-anesthesia physiology and recovery patterns
Skill with IV medications, pain management, and airway monitoring
Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
Ability to triage, prioritize, and respond quickly in urgent situations
Team-oriented mindset with strong patient- and family-centered care focus
