Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, family-centered nursing care for pediatric med/surg patients
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care for each patient
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely according to orders
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Document care and patient responses clearly and timely in the electronic health record
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond to emergencies with calm, competent action
• Participate in quality improvement, infection prevention, and unit-based initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or Compact RN license eligible
• Experience in Med/Surg nursing; pediatric experience strongly preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred or recommended
• Current immunizations and ability to clear standard background checks
• Strong clinical judgment, time management and effective communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational med/surg and pediatric nursing knowledge
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV/infusion therapies
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Patient and family education techniques, with an emphasis on pediatrics
• Ability to triage, prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Teamwork, empathy, and strong interpersonal communication
