Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality MedSurg Oncology nursing care including continuous cardiac monitoring for patients receiving chemotherapy
• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition, including interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Start and maintain IVs, manage PICC/central/arterial lines, and assist with blood product administration
• Support chest tube insertion/removal and airway therapies such as HFNC and BiPAP/CPAP
• Perform ABG interpretation and titration of insulin drips when clinically indicated
• Maintain meticulous infection prevention and fall prevention practices for a vulnerable oncology population
• Accurately document care in Epic and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social work)
• Float to other MedSurg Oncology units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed, contributing flexibility and teamwork

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice) required
• Minimum 2 years RN experience required; must meet within the 3 most recent years with at least 1 year current specialty experience for a clinical pass
• BLS certification required
• Epic charting experience required
• Demonstrated experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Skills in IV starts, central/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with HFNC, chest tube assistance, and ABG interpretation strongly preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required; previous travel experience is a plus
• Willingness to float within similar acuity units and work a rotating schedule

• MedSurg and Telemetry nursing practices

• IV therapy, accessing ports, and vascular line care (PICC, central, arterial)
• Blood product administration and transfusion safety
• Epic electronic charting proficiency
• Infection prevention and fall prevention strategies
• High Flow Nasal Cannula and basic respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care)
• ABG interpretation and insulin drip titration
• Ability to assist with chest tube procedures and emergency response
