Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for med-surg oncology patients, including continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy
• Interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and respond to emergent changes in patient condition
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central lines, PICC lines and arterial lines with precision
• Administer and assist with blood products and support chemotherapy-related procedures when applicable
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and manage high-flow nasal cannula and other respiratory supports
• Perform and interpret ABGs, and collaborate with respiratory services for BiPAP/CPAP and trach care
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Practice and promote infection prevention protocols and fall-risk reduction across the unit

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years RN experience (must meet experience requirements within the 3 most recent years)
• At least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass
• BLS certification required
• Epic charting experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Ability and willingness to float to other MedSurg Oncology units as needed
• Comfort working in a 1:4 patient ratio environment
• Previous travel/contract experience is a plus but not mandatory

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and B450 GE telemetry system experience
• Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• IV therapy, IV starts, central line and PICC line management
• Arterial line management and ABG interpretation
• Blood product administration and chest tube assistance
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and basic respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care)
• Familiarity with Alaris pumps and common unit equipment (bladder scanner, Stryker beds)
• Strong infection prevention practices and patient safety/fall prevention
